So many business owners claim to have a system that works.

And they aren’t wrong, they have a system that worked for them.

They try to sell the system, but it doesn’t give you the same result, or it only gave you half the results you expected.

What happened? what went wrong? Are there other variables involved??

What is a business coach?

A business coach is someone who acts as an advisor to help you understand, they are also known as a mentor.

Usually, individuals seek business coaches who work in their same or desired field.

A coach helps individuals grow and develop as a professional, offering advice based on their more advanced knowledge or experience.

Business coaches can be built through networking, personal connections or mentorship programs. And word of mouth.

Reasons why a business coach is important

They help you grow!!

Business coaches encourage and enable you professionally or personally in your development.

They can help you focus by setting goals and giving you feedback.

As a result, you can build employees’ skills by creating your own mentoring programs.

That knowledge can help train and create a high-quality and productive workplace.

Employees appreciate workplaces that encourage development, as it can demonstrate that their employer values them and wants to see them grow. So once you build a team you will have all these skills to pass on to them. This is a valuable skill to have.

Business coaches serve as a great source of knowledge

They can provide you with specific insights and information that help you succeed.

They offer you instructions on how to perform certain tasks or give you useful skills.

Individuals starting their careers can benefit from this guidance, as it helps them feel comfortable in their role faster.

They can help with starting a business and help you learn how to develop their initial business plan and help you stay on budget.

Business coaches can help you set goals

A business coach can help you set personal or professional goals.

Goals can help you stay focused on your efforts and make it easier for the business coach to track and assess your progress.

They can identify your tasks in hopes of a bigger objective to help you develop certain skills or meet some priorities you may have.

They will hold you accountable

A business coach helps hold their client accountable for their goals.

They will track your progress, and they help you stay focused and on track towards completing all of them

It also helps you not forget about the goals you have set for yourself

you don’t want to let the coach down by not completing all your tasks because you know they are watching you and will test you on it.

Business coaches will provide you with encouragement

When you find yourself struggling to complete your job or trying to reach a goal, you can turn to your coach for all the support you need.

This support can motivate you to keep moving forward despite all the challenges and hurdles you may have.

A coach can also identify your strengths to help give you confidence.

Having a strong sense of confidence can make you less likely to give up on your goals.

Business coaches are there to hear what you have to say

When you have ideas, you can use your coach as a resource to bounce ideas off of them and get feedback.

A business coach will provide advice or opinions using their knowledge and experience. To give you feedback to help with your decisions.

With having these insights, you can better understand what steps to take and whether to move forward with the idea or just walk away from it.

A coach can also listen and advise you on any concerns you may have.

Have a business coach you can trust

Trust represents a core element of coaching relationships.

You must trust the coach because they have your best interests in mind and will provide accurate and constructive advice.

The business world can be competitive, so you need to have that trust so they can help you succeed.

Business coaches will give you feedback

Having a trusted coach enables honest feedback.

By establishing that trust, you will understand that constructive criticism will help build your professional growth rather than make you feel bad.

They will show you your weaknesses and advise you on ways you can improve.

Because this is a professional relationship, the coach plays an objective role.

Your friends and family might not tell you what your weaknesses are because they do not want to appear unsupportive or hurt your feelings.

Business coaches will provide you with guidelines

If you’re just starting your career, a coach can help set guidelines on professional and personal expectations.

They will let you know what priorities come first and help you set time aside for your family as well.

These guidelines can help you establish appropriate work habits that enable you to focus and perform your job successfully without it affecting your family time.

These effective work habits can help you to be more productive.

Business coaches can also bring in their team

Have you ever hired someone who only focuses on one small detail in your company but you know you need a lot more help than just one thing?

Then you go hire someone else to help with a different area in your company?

This can be frustrating because they are probably not on the same page and not working together because they don’t know each other.

Having a coach that also has a team working for them, can be very valuable to you as well.

Since they all work on the same team, they will all be on the same page.

If you need help in all areas of your business they can come in as one and help with all the struggles you may have.

Here Is A Method That Will Help You Discover A Clear Focus

One of the reason’s why business is hard is due to a lack of clarity. Everyone wants to do something, and eventually, they want to do  EVERYTHING.

But to me, business is about having ONE solution, people are lining up to pay for. How do you find focus and clarity on that one solution?

We all live in a world that is very noisy, and sometimes trying to achieve clear focus can be really difficult for many of us.

Concentration and focus can be really hard to master, some people may think they can do it but we all have the shiny object syndrome. That means that we have so much going on in our lives that we tend to lose concentration easily.

Sure, you think you’re listening to a friend talk but have you ever received a text and found yourself reaching for your phone?

You didn’t even realize that your friend was talking and you just cut them off just by reaching for your phone. I don’t think we as humans are trying to hurt anyone or make them think we don’t care about what they have to say, it’s just that we all have that “shiny object syndrome”.

What is focus?

In order to stay focused on one thing you must, by default, ignore many other things that happen in a day.

Ok, here is a better example,

Focus can only occur when we have said yes to one option and no to all other options.

In other words, elimination is a prerequisite for focus. As Tim Ferriss says, “What you don’t do determines what you can do.”

But saying no isn’t a permanent solution, sometimes you do need to multitask to get things done but this is just an every now and then solution.

Focus is the key to productivity because saying no to every other option unlocks your ability to accomplish the one thing that is left.

Having a mentor can really help you unlock your ability to stay focused on what matters.

Why do I have a hard time staying focused?

It’s not that you have trouble focusing, you have trouble deciding what is important and what isn’t.

What I mean is that most healthy humans have a brain that is capable of focusing if we get the distractions out of the way.

Have you ever had a task that you absolutely had to get done?

What happened? You got it done because the deadline made the decision for you.

Maybe you procrastinated beforehand, but once things became urgent and you were forced to make a decision, you took action.

I myself have been in that situation, where I think I have time to do it and push it aside than all of a sudden it’s urgent. I thought I could just do all the things at once.

Instead of doing the difficult work of choosing one thing to focus on, we often convince ourselves that multitasking is a better option. This is known to be very ineffective.

Is there a method to figure out what is important?

One of my favourite methods for focusing your attention on what matters and eliminating what doesn’t comes from the famous investor Warren Buffett.

He actually has a strategy that works

  1. Step 1) write down 25 things you would like to accomplish this week
  2.
  3. Step 2) Then go through your list and circle the top 5 goals
  4.
  5. Step 3) Now you have two lists, list A is the 5 goals you circled and list B is the other twenty you didn’t circle

So now that your list is done, the twenty you didn’t circle will become the “avoid at all cost” list.

No matter what, you do not touch them until your 5 top goals are complete. Once there are done then you can go to your other 20 and repeat the process by circling the next top 5.

How can I finally stay focused?

There are many ways to help you stay focused on what matters, so here are a couple of things you can try,

You can choose an anchor task, you assign one and only one task that you need to get done in a day. You can do this every day of the week. That task will be non-negotiable. It must get done.

Never check your emails or text messages before a certain time of day. You will know what works best for you so pick that time and stick to it.

If you have to check these things before your day starts then do that but then don’t check again for at least 4 hours. That way you won’t be distracted by what you’re doing.

When we stop doing a task right in the middle of doing it, we just naturally lose focus and that makes it harder to jump right back in, especially if you are trying to write a blog or a social media post.

This world is a noisy place that we live in and we need to find that balance so we can accomplish everything we want in a day and try to avoid those nasty distractions that keep us from staying focused.

Regardless of what strategy you use, just remember that anytime you find the world distracting you, all you need to do is commit to one thing. In the beginning, you don’t even have to succeed. You just need to get started.

Getting The Most Out Of The Resources You Have

Did you know that Bill Gates and Elon musk have high levels of productivity and are able to make the most of every minute of the day?

How do they do it?

Time blocking…

If you don’t know what that is, then you definitely need to read on.

Let’s take a look at all the benefits and some steps you can take to make your day a lot more productive.

What exactly is time blocking

Time blocking is a planning method that divides your day into smaller blocks of time.

The process is really simple. During each block of time, you focus on a single task or a group of similar tasks.

Instead of having a list of tasks that need to be completed, you are time blocking each task into little sections so you know exactly what you need to do and when it needs to be done.

This may sound like a scheduling disaster. But when you’ve divided your time into time blocks, it keeps you task-focused and limits the ability of others to interrupt you on your time and keeps you focused.

And get this, instead of following a honey to-do list, time blocking lets you start each day with a schedule of specific tasks to complete. And allows you to stay on track.

Time blocking, why does it work?

Time blocking is proven to work because it allows you to prioritize everything you need to do. You can also review everything on a weekly basis.

Once you’ve figured out your week, adjust your time blocks accordingly for each day. In addition, reviewing everything at the end of your day will ensure that you account for any unfinished business and new tasks that may arise.

time blocking is more effective because it’s built on the premise of single-tasking, unlike multitasking. Multitasking divides our attention and ability to focus.

If you’re like me, have you ever started cleaning in one room and then find something that belongs somewhere else? Next thing you know, you’re starting to clean that room. And so on… This is a cycle that a lot of people find themselves in.

With time blocking, your schedule becomes your touchstone and eliminates the need to decide on what you should focus on.

If you just focus on one thing at a time for an hour or so, you will find you will get a lot of deep work done and not get distracted by other stuff. It’s a skill you must stick to and try to fight the urge, not to ver off course.

If you find yourself not knowing what to do next, just go to your calendar and see what you put down for certain times of the day. You can always adjust everything if you think something is more important.

Over time, you’ll gain greater levels of productivity by not jumping between tasks and allowing the mind to focus on one type of project. Once you see that you’re actually getting things done, you will never do your tasks sporadically again.

Are you wondering if time blocking is right for you?

Some people think that the way they do their tasks (jump from one thing to the next) is saving them time because they are able to get everything done at the same time, (multitasking) but if anything in this list sounds like something you do, then maybe time blocking is the way to go.

  1. Your work life is so busy that you can’t find time to focus on big-picture items like strategy and long-term direction.
  2.
  3. You’re ruled by meetings and can’t focus on what really matters.
  4.
  5. You have trouble breaking down and planning out larger tasks.
  6.
  7. Your job requires you to juggle a lot of different responsibilities, tasks, and projects.

Time blocking is something you can do not only for home life but work life as well. So if you answered yes to any of these questions then maybe give time blocking a shot.

Are you wondering if time blocking is right for you?

Time blocking doesn’t always work for everyone, if your job at work or at home is all about putting out fires, then time blocking might not work for you.

You can’t schedule emergencies, although it would be nice if you knew what was coming in advance.

For example, if you work at a hospital in emerg then you can’t control what tasks you need to do first, Your work needs to be adaptable to the situation at hand.

However, time blocking works really well for anybody with a more stable schedule.

You can use time blocking to work more efficiently and get things done, only If you know what you’re going to do each week or even in a day,

Now that you have all the information about time blocking, let look at some ways you need to know to help you get started.

Decide what is the most important to you

Are you looking for more time with your kids while trying to stay on schedule?

Do you want more freedom to have some time by yourself?

Once you figure out what is the most important to the least important, then you can put it on your calendar in that order.

Create a list

Once you know what is important then you can write it out in the order of importance.

Then you can create that list so you will know what you’re doing every day and every week.

If you’re struggling with creating your own time blocking plan, you could try using a calendar or planner specifically for time blocking.

Computer science professor and author Cal Newport created a planner specifically for time blocking.

The Cal Newport time management planner provides a “daily method for deep work in a distracted world.”

Now you know if time blocking works and if it’s right for you, just make sure not to make mistakes. Don’t forget to include breaks and make sure you take a much-needed lunch break as well.

You will not be very productive if you don’t stay fueled.
